Should I subscribe to Eve Online? (Currently doing free trial)?
I’ve been playing the trial version of Eve Online and have completed all the training missions save for the Advanced Military one (which I’ll probably do soon). I’m really on the fence whether I should commit the money to subscribe or not. While I’m enjoying it, the game seems to have a really established tight-knit community after having been out for so long that I’m a bit intimidated. I obviously don’t have any friends who play the game.
So I guess my question is twofold: Is it worth it to subscribe and if it is, does the game do more to foster community so I can find a corporation soon? Other MMO’s have specific quests/raids that almost force you to be communal, is Eve the same way (right now I’m assuming it’s not b/c everything I’ve heard about Eve is that it’s so different from other MMO’s, which is in large part why I wanted to try it to begin with).
Thanks in advance
It depends on how much you like PvP and others having the ability to prey on you as they wish (holding you for ransom, declaring war on your corporation and destroying it for no other reason than because it’s fun to them, etc.). It is definitely a fun game, but if you’re not willing to venture outside of .5+ space, you’re missing a huge portion of it.
I quit. I’m not a PvPer and didn’t like the feeling of having to watch my back wherever I went. I can get that feeling in real life easy enough. I don’t want to play a game to get it. But, it is an incredible game if you like PvP.
